A CRPF constable was killed and another sustained injuries in an IED blast in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand during combing operations on Friday. Police have identified the deceased as constable Santosh Oraon and the injured constable as Jayant Nath Barman. SP, West Singhbhum, Ashutosh Shekhar said: “The injured personnel were rushed to Ranchi. During treatment, constable Santosh Oraon passed away.”
This is the fourth such incident in West Singhbhum in the last four months. In September, CRPF constable Rajesh Kumar was killed under Tonto police station area in an IED blast. On August 14, two Jharkhand police personnel were killed during an encounter with members of the banned CPI (Maoist), and on August 11 CRPF’s head constable Sushanta Kumar Khuntia was killed in an encounter with Maoists.
