Blackstone, the world’s largest private equity firm, has initiated discussions with the Walt Disney Co to evaluate buying the media giant’s India streaming and television business, said people aware of the matter.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has bumped up India’s growth forecast for FY24 to 6.3% from 6.1% estimated earlier, hailing the country as one of the “growth engines in the world economy”.
India and the UK are likely to sign a proposed free trade agreement (FTA) in the last week of this month. It will be New Delhi’s first such comprehensive deal with an industrialised nation, seeking to spur bilateral annual business beyond the current $20 billion.
