16 Opposition leaders meet Palestinian Ambassador in Delhi, express solidarity – The Indian Express

Amid the Israel-Hamas war, a delegation of 16 opposition leaders, including parliamentarians and politicians, met the Palestinian Ambassador in New Delhi and expressed solidarity with the Palestinians. The delegation emphasised the need to step up efforts by the international community to arrive at a peaceful resolution.
“The international community must exert pressure on Israel to abide by international laws and respect the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people,” the delegation’s resolution read. “We strongly condemn the indiscriminate bombing of Palestinians in Gaza by Israel, which we believe amounts to an attempt to genocide. We urge an immediate cessation of all hostilities to prevent further loss of innocent lives and the destruction of homes and infrastructure,” the resolution added.
The delegation also urged the international community to recognize the establishment of an independent Palestine state along the 1967 borders in accordance with the UN resolution. “Such recognition is a crucial step towards ensuring a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestine conflict,” the delegation said in the resolution.
Speaking to The Indian Express, BSP MP Kunwar Danish Ali, who was part of the delegation, said they met the Palestinian Ambassador to make it clear that India is standing in support of Palestine. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media post had sent a message that the entire India was with Israel. That created a confusion. The fact is India is standing with Palestine,” Ali said.
Modi in a post on X had said, “Deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. Our thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. We stand in solidarity with Israel at this difficult hour.”
JD(U) spokesperson KC Tyagi, said, “We met the Ambassador against the Israel action on children, the elderly and hospitals.”
