Gujarat confidential: Premium Customer – The Indian Express

On Wednesday, Indian Bank launched its service to collect electricity bills payment, both offline and online, from customers on behalf of state owned-power distribution company Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL) that distributes power in Saurashtra and Kutch regions. However, PGVCL will not pay Indian Bank for the services, though the bank will have the liberty to showcase the discom as its customer. PGVCL consumers will get one more option to pay their electricity bills and Indian Bank is also to provide auto-debit services for such bill payments.
The officers and staff of Udhyognagar police station in Porbandar made all efforts to ensure that the Navratri celebrations pass off peacefully. Their strict vigil also seemed to have paid off as the festival culminated on October 23 midnight. But two hours later, a man was allegedly murdered following a dispute over distribution of gifts at a gabra event. Many personnel of the Udhyognagar police felt their long vigil should not have had such a postscript.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the Goddess Ambaji temple in Banaskantha district during his two-day visit to Gujarat from October 30. Modi will attend a public function at Kheralu in Mehsana district to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various developmental projects in the region on the same day. The function is likely to be attended by around one lakh people. According to BJP sources, the PM is likely to visit the Goddess Ambaji temple, which is not very far from Kheralu, prior to the event.
