Arvind KejriwalHIGHLIGHTS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today (May 11) along with Punjab counterpart held roadshow in Delhi's Mehrauli and Krishna Nagar. Earlier, the Delhi CM visited Hanuman Temple and offered prayers in the iconic mandir at Connaught Place area of the national capital as he walked out of Tihar Jail on interim bail after 50 days in judicial custody. Kejriwal sought people's support in his fight to end dictatorship in the country. After his release from Tihar Jail on Friday (May 10), Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal told a large gathering of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supporters that the 140 crore people of the country will have to fight together against dictatorship.

A day after release from Tihar Jail, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal conducted a roadshow in Mehrauli. He said They (BJP) want to stop our work, this is not a good thing for the country, this is a dictatorship. And the common people have to fight against this dictatorship. I am fighting against this dictatorship, but I need your support…”

Former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam replying to a question on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s remark that ‘Amit Shah will be the next PM if BJP wins’, said, “No other leader is more democratic than the Prime Minister of India. The opposition abuses PM Modi every day and if he was a dictator, they would not be able to do that…Lok Sabha elections are underway and PM Modi will take oath as the Prime Minister for the third time.”
On Delhi Chief Minister’s remark, the Union Home Minister said, “The people of this country, be it from East, West, North, South or Northeast, they are standing with Modi. All the leaders of the INDI alliance know that we are going to cross 400 seats and Modi ji will become the PM of this country for the third time, that is why they are spreading this type of misconception. I want to clarify that there is no such provision in BJP’s constitution and Modi ji will lead the country till 2029 and Modi ji will also lead the coming elections. There is no good news for I.N.D.I.A bloc…They cannot win elections by spreading such lies…”

As the Delhi chief minister walked out of prison Friday evening, AAP workers and supporters raised slogans of ‘Jail Ke Tale Toot Gaye, Kejriwalji Chhoot Gaye’. Standing through the sunroof of a car outside the prison, a grey T-shirt-clad Kejriwal addressed AAP workers and leaders gathered there to welcome him. Beginning with slogans of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Inquilab Zindabad’, he said, “I am fighting against dictatorship with all my might but 140 crore people (of the country) will have to come together to fight against it.”
AAP leaders said the interim bail granted to Kejriwal will be a game changer for both AAP and the I.N.D.I.A bloc’s campaign as the Lok Sabha polls enter the crucial phases in the coming weeks. Opposition leaders also welcomed Kejriwal’s interim bail, saying the fight to save democracy will now be with more intensity. Hinting at a rise in the stature of Kejriwal as a top I.N.D.I.A grouping leader, senior AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said he will go all over the country to campaign for the Lok Sabha polls.
Arvind Kejriwal’s 40-day judicial custody came to an end on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him bail till June 1 in the excise policy case. As per the court order, the AAP chief- who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21- must surrender before the Tihar Jail authorities by June 2. The final round of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections is scheduled for June 1, while the results will be out on June 4.
CM Kejriwal will also hold two roadshows in South Delhi and East Delhi alongside his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann on Saturday. The roadshow will commence at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm in Mehrauli and Krishna Nagar areas today.
