Union Minister Smriti Irani has started to host a radio show where she presents stories from across the country on women empowerment. The 13-episode weekly programme, Nai Soch Nai Kahani – A Radio Journey with Smriti Irani, launched on Akashvani recently.
Officials said the idea was to talk about various government schemes across different ministries that have impacted the lives of women in India. Two episodes of the hour-long show, which began airing on November 15, have been released so far.
In the first episode, called ‘Women and Enterprises’, Irani interacted with secretaries of the MSME and Skill Development along with beneficiaries of government schemes such as PM Svanidhi Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana and StartUp India.
The theme of the second episode was ‘Achievements in Sports’, in which Irani interviewed sportspersons, coaches and para-athletes including Deepa Malik, Ankur Dhama, Poonam Beniwal and Zafar Iqbal. The programme is aired at 9 pm on Wednesdays on Akashvani’s radio channel and its web portal.
